UEFA Nations League Returns to Sky Sports
10th October 2018
This week, exclusively on Sky Sports, pubs, clubs and bars can look forward to the rematch of the semi-final of the World Cup as Croatia play England on Friday, October 12. The fixture is part of the UEFA Nations League. Kick off is at 7.45pm.
The tournament, which began in September, attracted almost one million people[i] to pubs, clubs and bars when England played Spain in their first competitive match since the World Cup. England play Spain again on Monday, October 15 (kick off at 7.45pm), three days after their match with Croatia, meaning a bumper weekend of sport for pubs, clubs and bars.
Speaking about the UEFA Nations League and what’s its meant for footfall in his pub, Paul Eastwood, General Manager of The Famous Three Kings, which is part of the Stonegate Pub Company, said: “We were definitely busier than a normal England friendly game. Hopefully a chance to avenge World Cup heartache against Croatia will draw a good crowd in for the next game.
"The tournament is definitely a step in the right direction and I believe it will start to increase footfall into pubs. All we need is a few cracking games and a tense and exciting end to the tournament and then intrigue should carry on growing. Fingers crossed and let’s wait and see.”
David Rey, Managing Director of Sky Business, said: “This week’s return of the UEFA Nations League is exciting for pubs and bars up and down the country. The country is still behind Southgate’s team and it’s a great chance for football fans to head to the club and reunite with friends to see if England can brush off their world cup demons against Croatia and avenge the result against Spain.”
