Sky Sports and EFL sign a new five-year deal
20th November 2018
Sky Sports and the EFL have agreed a new five-year deal to show more football games from the Sky Bet Championship, League One and League Two.
The new deal means Sky Sports will broadcast live Sky Bet EFL, Carabao Cup, Checkatrade Trophy and Sky Bet play-off matches through until May 2024. Matches will be shown live on dedicated channel Sky Sports Football.
Under the new agreement, from 2019/20 Sky Sports will broadcast:
• 138 Sky Bet EFL League matches
• 15 Sky Bet EFL play-off matches including all three finals
• 15 matches from the Carabao Cup including the final
• The semi-final and final of the Checkatrade Trophy
The new deal for 138 live matches also includes; a minimum of 20 Sky Bet League One and League Two games every term and 24 Sky Bet Championship games on a Tuesday and Wednesday evening throughout the season.
David Rey, Managing Director of Sky Business, said: “For pubs and clubs up and down the country this is great news, meaning they can show more games from their local football league team more often – that’s more of the games that matter to their customers.
"Add that to action from the Carabao Cup and live coverage of ever play-off game and customers can enjoy more money-making opportunities with Sky’s EFL schedule.”
Sky Sports will also have comprehensive coverage of the midweek EFL action on Sky Sports News – including the goals as they go in – as well as the debate show EFL Matters.« Back to News
