Live sport coming up in April

It's another huge month for sport with four Premier League teams in action in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, the Grand National and the Manchester Derby

Horse Racing: The Grand National
The most anticipated horse race of the year takes place at Aintree with the 172nd running of the Grand National. Last year’s winner was Tiger Roll, ridden by Davy Russell, and race finished in dramatic fashion with a photo finish deciding the final result. This year, the 10-1 shot could well be looking to become the first back-to-back winner of the National since Red Rum (1973 and 1974).

Premier League: Chelsea v West Ham United 
Chelsea seemed to be well off the pace midway through the season but seem to have regained their confidence with the team still locked on to finishing in the top four of the Premier League table. They should prove too strong at home for the Hammers.

UEFA Champions League: Quarter-Final, 1st Leg - Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester City
After a pulsating set of Round of 16 home and away fixtures, Europe’s most prestigious club competition is down to the quarter-finals. This all-English quarter-final should be a game to remember given the attacking talent on each side.

UEFA Champions League: Quarter-Final, 1st Leg - Liverpool v Porto
Liverpool recorded a comprehensive last-16 win against Porto 12 months ago and will be seeking a quarter-final repeat as they set their sights on going one better than 2018 to win the title.

UEFA Champions League: Quarter-Final, 1st Leg - Manchester United v Barcelona
After their Last 16 heroics against PSG, United now turn their attention to Barcelona. It may seem a mammoth task but Messi and co have not made it past the quarter-final stage since 2015.

The Masters
The first major of the year takes place at the National Club in Georgia, Atlanta, as the world’s best golfers line up for the honour of wearing the famous green jacket. Last year saw Patrick Reed of the USA win the title just one stroke ahead of compatriot Rickie Fowler. There are sure to be many moments of drama during the four days.

Premiership Rugby Union: Newcastle Falcons v Leicester Tigers
Leicester Tigers are at their lowest ebb since the formation of the rugby Premiership and in serious danger of dropping out of the top flight altogether. The Falcons, however, are favourites for relegation, making this battle a huge game for both sides.

Premier League: Liverpool v Chelsea
A major test for Chelsea as they head to Anfield to take on one of this season’s key pacesetters in the Premier League. The earlier fixture between these two sides, at Stamford Bridge in September, finished 1-1 with Eden Hazard scoring for the Blues in the 25th minute and then Daniel Sturridge grabbing an equaliser in the 89th minute.

UEFA Champions League: Quarter-Final, 2nd Leg - Barcelona v Manchester United
United head to the Nou Camp for the 2nd Leg Quarter-Final and will have to keep a close eye on Barcelona maestro Lionel Messi if they are to progress in this competition.

Jurgen Klopp's men will hope to have gained an advantage from the home leg before they head to Portugal to take on a side who last won the Champions League title back in 2004.

The Etihad hosts a momentous match between two of the most exciting club teams on the planet as City take on Spurs. Following their stunning performances in the Round of 16, City will be favourites to carry on the fight into the semi-finals.

Premier League: Manchester United v Manchester City
The match will split the city into its blue and red constituencies as City head to Old Trafford. Back in November, at the Etihad, it was City who took the spoils, winning by 3-1 as Silva, Aguero and Gundogan cut loose. United could only reply with a penalty from Anthony Martial.
