HSBC London Sevens Announces Feast of Rugby Takeover at Urban Food Fest
30th March 2016
This year's HSBC London Sevens will be celebrating their partnership with Urban Food Fest by hosting a 'Feast of Rugby' takeover at the Shoreditch street food market on Saturday April 2.
Ahead of the tournament finale on May 21 and 22, Feast of Rugby will be taking over Urban Food Fest's resident spot in Shoreditch for one day only (Saturday April 2) to give punters a taster of what's to come at Twickenham. The market will be fully HSBC London Sevens themed and there will be special guest appearances from the England sevens team – who will be helping vendors cook up a storm on the day. A selection of food and drink will be served that has been influenced by the international Series and there will be lots of fun activities for fans to get involved in onsite.
Urban Food Fest is famous for its street food and night markets in London and Manchester where street food trucks and stalls serve exquisite global dishes, offering exquisite treats heralding from France to Fiji. Slow roasted and smoked pulled pork burgers, sweet and savoury crepês and Venezuelan maize arepas. The 'Feast of Rugby' takeover will serve as a taste of what's to come at the HSBC London Sevens weekend where Urban Food Fest will provide over 20 international street food trucks, stalls and bars.
The HSBC London Sevens' market takeover will celebrate the new-look finale weekend, by capturing the spirit of the ultimate day out for die-hard rugby fans, food lovers and for friends and families alike. 'Feast of Rugby' will be a fully themed event with a rewarded dress code, experiential stalls and even some very special guests.
Nic Fletcher, Head of Marketing, England Rugby, said: "We are thrilled to be taking over Urban Food Fest to give fans a taste of what to expect at the finale weekend. This partnership has been forged specifically for the HSBC London Sevens 2016 as we look to offer something different for the tournament, which we aim to do every year. Our partnership with Urban Food Fest will reach a new audience of adventurers and food-lovers, while adding an extra dimension onto the day for our loyal rugby fans. "
Jessica Tucker, Founder of Urban Food Fest, said: "We are absolutely thrilled to be hosting the Feast of Rugby takeover at Urban Food Fest with the fantastic HSBC London Sevens. The takeover festival will bring the essence of the Seven Series to Shoreditch. It is a perfect combination partnering world class rugby with mouth-watering premium street food dishes. We look forward to all the visitors enjoying our unique culinary treats and having an all-round fun day out."
The London round of the 2016 tournament will once again be the final event of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series that is already underway. The 2015/16 season sees five new destinations added to the Series in Cape Town, Sydney, Vancouver, Singapore and Paris.
This season’s tournament carries added significance with many of the teams competing on the Series having qualified for Sevens’ debut at the Olympic Games in Rio in 2016, with London being the last time they compete before stepping out in Brazil.
