2nd February 2017

Commercial premises will be able to show BT Sport’s first ever World Title boxing match live in April when Terry Flanagan headlines a blockbuster card at the Manchester Arena, with three further knockout fight nights agreed for 2017 so far.

The schedule for the first four fight nights to be shown on BT Sport were announced this week alongside the unveiling of double gold winning Olympic winner Nicola Adams as a professional boxer. She will now join Frank Warren’s stable and her fights will appear live on BT Sport and BoxNation.

The WBO World Lightweight Championship fight for Terry Flanagan’s defence against Russia’s Petr Petrov will ring the bell for live boxing coverage on BT Sport on Saturday, April 8. The undercard will also feature former WBO World Light Middleweight Champion Liam Smith against his long-time rival Liam Williams, as well as Nicola Adams’ debut as a professional boxer.

The second fight night on BT Sport will see the newly crowned British Middleweight Champion Tommy Langford defend his title for the first time against Birmingham rival Craig Cunningham following the latter’s victory over London 2012 Olympic medallist Anthony Ogogo. Taking place at the Leicester Arena on Saturday, April 22, Tyrone Nurse against Joe Hughes is on the undercard, as well as Indian superstar Vijender Singh v Leicester’s own English super Middleweight Champion Jahmane Smyle.

The third boxing event on BT Sport screens will see the cameras focus on London with the Copper Box Arena hosting Bradley Skeete’s mandatory British Welterweight title defence against Shayne Singleton. The fights will be on Saturday, May 6. British Featherweight Champion Ryan Walsh will also be on the bill, and Mitchell Smith has the chance to avenge his shock loss to George Jupp.

The last bout announced so far for 2017 on BT Sport will see WBC International Featherweight Champion Josh Warrington top the bill alongside Nicola Adams home debut in at the First Direct Arena in Leeds against Marco McCullough on Saturday, May 13.

BT Sport commercial customers will be able to show top level boxing events for no extra cost. This will include up to 20 Saturday night events, including World, European, British and Commonwealth title fights.
