BT Sport announces first 25 live Aviva Premiership rugby games

10th July 2016

BT Sport will be showing 25 Aviva Premiership games exclusively live in the first eight rounds of the 2016/17 Aviva Premiership season.

Leicester Tigers' trip to Kingsholm to face Gloucester in the opening game of the season is the first fixture live on BT Sport and kicks off a blockbuster weekend as English top flight returns.

London Irish's return to the Premiership begins at Twickenham as they face Harlequins in the first game of the annual London Double Header, with champions Saracens hosting Worcester Warriors earlier in the day.

Bristol's Director of Rugby Andy Robinson said: "We're pleased to be involved in the London Double Header on our first game back in the top flight, it's always a day that provides entertaining, competitive rugby.

"We're looking forward to playing at a fantastic stadium in front of our supporters, who we know will travel in great numbers to Twickenham."

Champions Cup holders Saracens will be aiming to maintain their domestic dominance and Director of Rugby Mark McCall is excited to begin at the stadium that they lifted the Premiership crown a few weeks ago.

McCall said: "The London Double Header is always a great way to start the new season with four clubs battling it out in a showpiece occasion in front of a big crowd.

"All Aviva Premiership clubs have strengthened going into the new campaign with quality players joining from across the globe – again proving that this competition is one of the best in the world."
